I Need A Dollar

I love the Electronic music scene of Berlin (everyone does), and I love the Indie/Rock and Pop appreciation in clubs, gigs and generally throughout the city. But as much as I love it — sometimes it is inevitable to fall into a different pace with unexpected rhythms as you discover new places and new people. Not having a routine makes the routine so much more bearable, and within the techno context of Berlin, some soul and hip hop can be a real treat. The spontaneous decision of seeing Aloe Blacc at his promo tour for his upcoming album at the Carhartt store was definitely justified.

Blacc had his moment of fame when he dropped on the How To Make It In America Mixtape by DJ Lantern & Kid Cudi. His song “I Need A Dollar” is a catchy soul/hip hop piece and made me relight my fire for some soul and funk. Needless to say I was very excited to see and hear him. Thankfully, my expectations were met. I have some love left for DJ Ill O too– I think I want my going away party in September to sound exactly like that.

We need more soul.
