Cecconi’s: Classic Italian Cuisine in Mitte

Our take on the recent add-on to Mitte's most exclusive member club Soho House: open to the public, this Italian restaurant is not only gorgeous, but delivers great classic Italian soul-soothers like pizza, pasta and fresh seafood.

Sunday Aperitivo at Caffè Torino

It was due time to gather all of my bestest friends to celebrate the relaunch (or rather: unlikely endurance) of FINDINGBERLIN! And there's no better way to do it than by combining our two favourite things: Berlins lazy and cold Sunday afternoons meet the Italian passion for wonderfully prepared drinks and delicious antipasti. I hate to break the news to you, guys, but it's getting cold and uncomfortable, and unless climate change kicks into gear soon, it'll stay like this until the beginning of next August. And that's the optimistic outlook. In order to cope with the winter, I recommend we become collectively inspired by the Italian drinking culture. I call it La Deutsche Vita - Germans drinking and snacking with style. It's pretty easy to do, I promise. If you need a place to host you, the beautiful pop-up Caffè Torino is open on the weekends from 4-10pm until the 6th of November, and welcomes you to enjoy Aperitivo culture at its finest; located at Raabestraße 1 in Prenzlauer Berg. Or you might also want to stay at home - no problem. Gather your best friends on a Sunday and celebrate the fact that there's literally nothing you can do outside! All you need to recreate the Aperitivo moment: flavorful snacks & antipasti; an intimate playlist, just like the one Juli prepared for our Aperitivo and of course, the drinks! My favorite drink, based on the new premium Martinis, is the Americano Bolognese. It has nothing to do with the pasta variety Bolognese (unfortunately), and everything with the Daniele Dalla Polla, the Aperitivo specialist from Bologna who twisted the classic Americano. Together with Marc Alvarez, he authored the signature drinks menu of the Caffè Torino in Berlin. And of course, here's the recipe for your Americano Bolognese at home: AMERICANO BOLOGNESE 40 ml Martini Riserva Speciale Rubino 20 ml Martini Bitter Angostura Bitter 60 ml Tonic Water Orange/Lemon peel Voilà: That's all you need to have a great time on a Sunday. Not only despite of the weather, but exactly because of the weather! Day-drinking seems only justified when nothing else is a viable option (because rain and cold). What makes the Aperitivo so special is the immanent social structure of the gathering. The more, the merrier! And nobody needs to extensively cook or prepare to have a long night out. Maybe it's an "old people" thing now, but I really can't pull all-nighters anymore (which, in typical Berlin fashion, start at 3 AM on a Saturday morning... kids, you have my blessings, but I'm out). The Aperitivo, on the other hand, starts at 4PM - a timing that I can definitely get behind, especially on a Sunday. My dear, lovely friends - thank you for coming by to the FINDINGBERLIN Sunday Aperitivo, and here's to hoping that Berlin will learn to appreciate the Sunday afternoons of the future with more of that Mediterranean flavor! A strong thank you and many kisses go out also to the wonderful barkeepers, my sweethearts of the year! Caffè Torino is the perfect location for a Sunday Funday in sweatpants! The pop-up Vermouth café in Prenzlauer Berg prepares a variety of Aperitivos, based on the new Martini specials Riservo Ambrato and Riservo Rubino - two special premium Martinis that haven't been available in Berlin until now. facebook.com/MARTINIDeutschland instagram.com/MARTINIDeutschland twitter.com/MARTINI_drinks youtube.com/MARTINI
